Identify Silver Coins and Check Their Melt Value Instantly

Silver coins are hiding in drawers and jars everywhere — pre-1965 US dimes, quarters, and half dollars are 90% silver and worth several times face value. Coin Value Identifier identifies any silver coin and shows you its current melt value based on the live spot price.

Which US coins are silver

All US dimes, quarters, and half dollars minted through 1964 are 90% silver. Kennedy Half Dollars from 1965–1970 are 40% silver. War Nickels (1942–1945) are 35% silver. Morgan Dollars (1878–1921) and Peace Dollars (1921–1935) are 90% silver. The app identifies all of these and immediately shows their silver content weight and current melt value.

A quick way to use the app: dump a jar of old coins out and photograph each one — you'll immediately know which are silver and what they're worth at today's spot price.

World silver coins

Many countries produced silver coins well into the 20th century, and these show up regularly in estate sales, flea markets, and international travel. British florins and shillings, Canadian 80% silver dollars, Mexican silver pesos, and European silver coinage from before the 1970s are all commonly found and identified by the app.

For world coins, the app shows both the silver content weight and the numismatic value if the coin has collector significance beyond its metal content.

Silver bullion rounds and bars

Modern silver bullion — American Silver Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs, Austrian Philharmonics, and privately minted rounds — is also identified. The app distinguishes between government-issued bullion (which carries a small premium) and privately minted rounds (which trade closer to spot) and shows current premiums above spot price for popular issues.

If you're buying silver as an investment, the app helps you quickly assess whether a dealer's price is fair relative to current spot and typical premiums.

Live silver price updates

The melt value displayed for silver coins updates in real time as silver spot prices move. Set a price alert for silver and the app will notify you when the spot price crosses a level you care about — useful if you're waiting for a good moment to sell.

The silver price history chart lets you see how the spot price has moved over the past day, week, month, and year — context that helps you decide whether current prices represent a good selling opportunity.
